What Is Goshen ?

What Is Goshen ?

Goshen represents a safe land of plenty and comfort.

The word “Goshen” is often viewed the same as “gosh,” that is, as a euphemism for “God.” Actually, though, “Goshen” is from the Hebrew “Goshen,” the name of the land allotted to the Israelites in Egypt, and is found in the Bible at Genesis, chapter 45, verse 11: “And thou shalt dwell in the land of Goshen … and there I will nourish thee.”

In the Bible, the Land of Goshen refers to an area in ancient Egypt east of the Nile delta that the king of Egypt gave to Jacob and his descendants. (Genesis 45:10). The Israelites resided in Goshen until the Exodus from Egypt.

Goshen was a part of Egypt that bordered on the Promised Land that God had given to Abraham for his descendants (Genesis 12:7)

Goshen A place of protection

Even in Goshen, the Lord prospered the children of Israel and grew their numbers (Genesis 47:27; Acts 7:17).

Goshen is our spiritual reality...
